Definition of a call: In reference to the above statistics, a call is counted when a report is filed. One EMS Call is tabulated for every time a Basic Life Support Ambulance responds to a medical emergency (Effective in 2001, no Bowie station has more than one Ambulance). Ambulance runs that are part of working-fire dispatches (or other fire-related emergencies with no patients) are not included in the EMS totals. A Fire Call is counted when any piece of fire apparatus responds for any type of call. Only one Fire Call is counted per station no matter how many units actually respond. EXAMPLE: If E391, E392, A399 and TK39 all respond on a fire, it counts as 1 call.
